KEZAD, Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi
What we think
One of only three zones on this site that publishes its renewal AND its closing cost. Start-up packages, land rates and a detailed fee tariff are all public. Warehouse and office rents are not.
Publishes its prices, including renewalPackages
- Free zone business licence
- Shared workstation or dedicated office
- Company set up in 24 hours
- No security deposit

- Same content, three year commitment
- Same content, three year commitment
Where each line was read: product page, a commercial commitment on the zone's own site. Official document, a downloadable schedule, regulation or terms. Blog only, an article on the zone's site, editorial and not contractual. Not published, the zone does not say.

Year two, and closing down
The two figures nobody advertises. A cheap first year means nothing if year two doubles, and nothing at all if leaving costs a fortune.
Renewal, per year
AED 5,000 for an industrial, trading or service licence, AED 15,000 for general trading, charged after two years. The first-year packages therefore defer the renewal cost rather than remove it. No late renewal penalty is published.
Closing the company
Licence cancellation AED 2,500, plus establishment card cancellation AED 500 and residence cancellation AED 500. Published in the official tariff. No liquidation procedure is costed.
Other fees and penalties
Binding terms
- One hundred percent foreign ownership for free zone entities.
- Selling inside Abu Dhabi requires a local distributor, an agent or a dual licence.
- Start-up packages carry no security deposit and no visa deposit.
- Zero corporate tax and no value added tax are advertised for the free zone jurisdiction.
Contradictions on the zone's own site
- The tariff page lists new licences at AED 0 while the start-up packages start at AED 9,450 including that same licence.
- The cost-saving page advertises a zero licence fee without stating the AED 5,000 to 15,000 charged from year three.
- Package pages promise dedicated offices while no dedicated office rent is published anywhere.
What this zone does not publish
- Warehouse and light industrial unit rental rates.
- Standalone office and workstation rent cards.
- Minimum share capital.
- Audited financial statement obligation.
- Late renewal fines and trade name reservation fee.
- Any referral or agent commission scheme.

AED 1,000 back on this zone
This zone pays us an introduction fee, and we hand AED 1,000 of it back to you once your trade licence has actually been issued. You pay the zone exactly what you would pay going direct, we never take a dirham from you, and the cashback is only due if you filled in the Free Zone Radar form first.
Figures quoted from the zone are left in the language the zone published them in, so you can check them word for word. This file is available in English and French. The comparator itself is in Arabic too.
