RAKEZ, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone
What we think
One of the few zones that publishes a renewal guarantee in writing: the All-Inclusive package promises the same price in year two. Visa service prices are published per service, which is unusual. Office and warehouse prices are not published at all.
Publishes its headline prices, but not everythingPackages

Where each line was read: product page, a commercial commitment on the zone's own site. Official document, a downloadable schedule, regulation or terms. Blog only, an article on the zone's site, editorial and not contractual. Not published, the zone does not say.

Year two, and closing down
The two figures nobody advertises. A cheap first year means nothing if year two doubles, and nothing at all if leaving costs a fortune.
Renewal, per year
The All-Inclusive package guarantees the same price in year two, AED 14,000. This is the only written renewal guarantee we found among the eleven zones. For every other package the renewal price is not published, and the official service card says only that prices vary.
Closing the company
Not published. De-registration and liquidation appear in the service catalogue with no amount attached. What is published, and matters: the AED 2,000 visa security deposit per non Gulf employee is forfeited if the company closes, for any reason at all.
Other fees and penalties
Binding terms
- An office is compulsory: operational within 60 days of the start date, warehouses within 90 days of the lease.
- Renewal must be filed at least 30 days before expiry.
- Audit is compulsory. Accounts reviewed by an auditor within 6 months of the year end.
- Minimum capital by activity: AED 10,000 generic, AED 150,000 industrial, AED 100,000 logistics, AED 500,000 aviation, AED 1,000,000 for real estate development, broadcasting and insurance agency.
- Free zone company: 1 to 50 shareholders maximum.
- The visa security deposit is forfeited if the company closes, for any reason.
- Standard offices and warehouses: the full annual rent is payable in advance.
Contradictions on the zone's own site
- The All-Inclusive package is AED 14,000 on the promotions page and the homepage, AED 16,500 on the getting started page, and AED 16,550 on the designated zone page. All three are on rakez.com.
What this zone does not publish
- Every RAKEZ office price. Only Compass, the coworking arm, publishes rates.
- Warehouse and land prices.
- The full visa quota scale by office type. Only the flexi desk figure is published.
- Incorporation fees, establishment card, name reservation, amendment and liquidation fees.
- The multi-year discount percentages.
- The channel partner commission scale behind the headline 35 percent.

AED 1,000 back on this zone
This zone pays us an introduction fee, and we hand AED 1,000 of it back to you once your trade licence has actually been issued. You pay the zone exactly what you would pay going direct, we never take a dirham from you, and the cashback is only due if you filled in the Free Zone Radar form first.
Figures quoted from the zone are left in the language the zone published them in, so you can check them word for word. This file is available in English and French. The comparator itself is in Arabic too.
